En Rotary procuramos cambiar el mundo. De lo contrario, no seríamos rotarios. Creemos en un mundo más feliz, sano y pacífico logrado a través del servicio.

En 2011-2012, le pido a cada rotario: Busca dentro de ti para abrazar a la humanidad. Les insto a buscar dentro de ustedes a fin de comprender que la humanidad entera comparte los mismos sueños, esperanzas, aspiraciones y problemas. Cuando nos hacemos conscientes de que satisfacer las necesidades de los demás es satisfacer las propias, comprendemos la importancia de nuestra labor.

En el próximo año, nos centraremos en tres áreas principales del servicio rotario. La primera será la familia . La familia y el hogar forman la esencia de nuestro trabajo-nuestro servicio comienza allí. A través de la familia nos acercamos a la comunidad y a la humanidad, creando una gran familia, en la cual todos se preocupan por el bienestar de los demás. Así, en tiempos de alegría o tristeza, nadie nunca está solo.

La segunda será la continuidad , lo cual significa estar conscientes de qué obras realizamos bien y seguirlas haciendo aún mejor. Debemos aprovechar nuestros éxitos y ampliarlos para prestar servicio a mucha más gente en el futuro. Por supuesto, nuestro mayor compromiso es con el programa PolioPlus, porque nos falta tan poco para lograr la erradicación.

La tercera será el cambio mismo. El verdadero cambio debe tener sus raíces dentro de nosotros. No podemos compartir la paz si no la poseemos antes. No podemos preocuparnos de los demás sin preocuparnos primero de nosotros mismos, de nuestros clubes, familias, y comunidades.

Mahatma Gandhi dijo: “Debes convertirte en el cambio que deseas ver en el mundo”. En Rotary, nos esforzamos por vivir íntegra y honradamente, compartir la amistad y la buena voluntad y percibir el verdadero valor en todo ser humano. No nos interesa la mediocridad del mínimo común denominador porque Rotary se sale de lo común y los rotarios son personas poco comunes. Por tal motivo, procuramos elevarnos, elevar el mundo y abrazar a la humanidad.

A cada rotario le pido: Busca dentro de ti para abrazar a la humanidad, para que en el marco de la paz, la armonía y la amistad, logremos los cambios que hagan posible un futuro mejor para todos.

All of us in Rotary are looking to change the world – why else would we be Rotarians? We believe that our world can be happier, healthier, and more peaceful, and that we can create that better world through our service.

In 2011-12, I will ask Rotarians to Reach Within to Embrace Humanity . I will ask you to search first within yourselves, to understand that all of us, everywhere, have the same dreams, the same hopes, the same aspirations, and similar dilemmas. When we understand, and truly feel, that others’ needs are the same as our own, we begin to understand how important our work is. In the year ahead, we will have three emphases in our Rotary service.

Our first emphasis in this Rotary year will be the family. The family and the home are at the core of all our work – all our service begins here. And through the family, we approach all of our community and indeed, all of humanity, as an extended family, in which all members care for each other. In times of joy and in times of need, no one is ever alone.

Our second emphasis will be continuity – finding the things we do well and taking them to the next level. We must build on our successes, expand on them, and strive to do even more. Of course, our greatest obligation is to PolioPlus, where success is now so close.

And our third emphasis will be change. We must understand that true change can only begin with each of us, and start within us. We cannot share peace with others if we do not have it to give. We cannot look after the whole world without first looking after those closest to us: our families, our clubs, and our communities.

Mohandas K. Gandhi said, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” In Rotary, we endeavor to live ethically and honestly, to share friendship and fellowship, to see equal worth in every human being.

We are not interested in the lowest common denominator, for Rotary is anything but common. Instead, we work to elevate ourselves, elevate others, and thereby embrace the world.

Together, we will Reach Within to Embrace Humanity . And in peace, harmony, and friendship, we will bring change – and a more joyful world.

Nací un 17 de enero de 1962, vivi en la ciudad de Mexico hasta la edad de 11 años, apartir de entonces vivimos en la peñita de Jaltemba Nayarit, soy medico cirujano general, realice mis estudios universitarios en Tepíc Nayarit, me he dedicado a ejercer la medicina privada desde 1987 (considero que mi carrera es muy interesante) en La Peñita, desde entonces he realizado varios diplomados en diferentes topicos de la medicina, asi como asistido a diversos cursos y conferencias medicas las cuales se realizan en forma anual. Me casé en 1987 con Eufemio Sahagun (Geño) y tengo 3 hijos Daniela de 22 años, Hector de 19 y Oscar de 16, y felizmente ahora soy abuelita de Sebastian de 2 años. Imparti varios semestres clases de biologia y quimica en la perparatoria y conalep de la peñita. Me gusta ayudar a mi comunidad. Ingrese a rotary por primera vez (sin saber realmente en que consistia ser rotario) cuando en Noviembre del 2008 nos empezamos a reunir de manera informal, y en Marzo de 2009 nos constituyeron formalmente como club rotario al cual llamamos Bahia de Jaltemba-La Peñita, y estoy contenta con los logros que hemos obtenido en este corto tiempo de existir como club. Soy aficionada a leer y ver peliculas.

I was born on 17 January 1962 and lived in Mexico City until the age of 11 years when I moved to La Penita.  I am a general surgeon.  I did my university studies in Tepic Nayarit. I have been in private practice since 1987.  I think my career is very interesting.  Since graduating, have made several different topics of medicine, as well as have attended various courses and medical conferences which are held annually. I married in 1987, Eufemio Sahagun (Genoa) and I have 3 children Daniel, 22, Hector 19 and Oscar 16. I am now happily Sebastian grandmother of 2 years. I have taught several semesters of biology and chemistry classes in the CONALEP perparatoria. I like helping my community.  I became a Rotarian for the first time (without really knowing what it consisted of a Rotary club member) in November 2008 when we began to meet informally, and in March 2009 we formally constituted club which we call Jaltemba Bay-La Peñita, and I’m happy with the progress we have achieved in this short time to exist as a club. I’m fond of reading and watching movies.
