It is always a delight to hike hillsides and valleys or even just spot the flowers growing along the local roads. Here are a few flowers I found blooming in May around Port Renfrew.
First these hardy little individuals survived the Lizard Lake fire.
Along the roadside on the way to Lake Cowichan you can spot columbine and lilies.
On the beaches along the Juan de Fuca trail wild strawberries inhabit the most unlikely crevasses.
In the local ditches skunk cabbage.
