English Speakers in the Classroom

This project helps teachers in their efforts to teach English to their students.  The program is intended to involve members of the community who are native speakers of English and do not have Spanish language skills.  It is a great opportunity to learn a bit of Spanish or improve the skills you already have.

This program originated with a request from Juan Carlos at J. Cruze Guardado Bautista Primary school in La Colmena.  Once established the program will be available to any teacher requesting it provided we have enough volunteers.

Our first session was a big success.  Juan Carlos told us he is trying to improve the level of education in the school by giving his time to teach extra classes in the afternoon.  His students come back after lunch for an hour of English followed by an hour of mathematics.
