Letters
Some application require a letter stating various details.
For an FM3 Renewal
- Letter (in Spanish) requesting an extension of your current status. They have those at the desk and this year (2011) the clerk was willing to fill it out and have me sign it. It looks like this:
This letter is a bit different from normal in that it includes a request to change my address (hand writing at bottom). This happened because I brought an electricity bill with a different address (we live at two addresses). The lesson learned there is be sure to check everything is consistent with the data currently on your FM3. In 2011 they did not look at my proof of residency.
Work Permit:
The same letter should serve to change your working status. Have someone write in Spanish what form of work you plan to do and write that at the bottom of the letter or just write the details of the work because there is a good chance they will want to change it slightly to make it more clear.
Include:
type of work
where it will be performed
who will pay your income (if you are self employed then say simply independiente)
for example: PIDO PERMISO PARA TRABAJAR COMO PROMOTOR INDEPENDIENTE DE VARIOS SITIOS WEB Y VENDER PUBLICIDA
If someone else is paying you then it gets a bit more complicated because they will want details of the employer and a statement from them that they are indeed employing you. You can probably work through that but it may take several tries and trips. It may be well worth your while to get a consultant to do it for you.

There are a number of letters for various uses in Spanish on Yucalandia.wordpress.com. The page is long and has other useful info but look for this heading in bold toward the bottom:

thanks!
ps. I need to do this as quickly as possible!

Sorry Sue but I think you best consult a lawyer for that one. I think it is a bit more complicated than getting a working FM*.
