Medical Tourism

Medical tourism or cross border Medicare is a growing phenomenon. It is now common for Canadians to have their dental work done while they visiting Mexico. With excellent equipment and facilities and many doctors trained in world class schools it is small wonder that some people are opting for the lower cost procedures for anything from hip replacement to tooth repair.

In August Puerto Vallarta was host to the Medical Tourism Congress and Expo. TvPuertoVallarta produced the following three videos covering the conference from August 24th to 26th.

Dr. David Warner from the school of Public Affairs at the University of Texas talks about the possible options for US citizens, many of them born in Mexico and/or likely to retire in Mexico.

Paul Crist talks about his efforts to get the US congress to pass rules that will allow medicare to be paid for US citizens receiving care in Mexico.
