Chille relleno – stuffed pepper. The pepper is usually not hot but sometimes they can be a bit spicy. From the verb lenar – to fill. Pronounced cheélay rayáyno.

Picante – hot or spicy. From the verb picar – to bite or sting. Pronounced peekántay. For movies and magazines it also means racy.

Salsa – sauce

Tortillaria – the local shops that make tortillas using mechanical equipment. Millions are made each day. Pronounced torteeyaréea.
