CHRISTMAS DINNER
The park Christmas Dinner, attended by approximately 110 folks, was just lovely – thank you to Helene and all her helpers for putting on such a beautiful meal.

SO … DID YOU READ THE TWO ARTICLES FROM THE JALEPENO PEPPER?? WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE FIRST ONE? THEY NEED ABOUT $4000 PESOS TO FINISH THE JOB – AND ARE LOOKING FOR DONATIONS. IF YOU STILL HAVE THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT, AND FEEL YOU WOULD LIKE TO “DO” A LITTLE SOMETHING TO HELP OUT THOSE LESS FORTUNATE – SEEK OUT NEIL OR JOAN BRINT UP THERE ON THE TOP ROW ABOVE THE POOL (THEY HAVEN`T COME UP WITH A NAME YET!!) AND HAVE A CHAT – OR BETTER YET – LEAVE A FEW PESOS WITH THEM. IT WILL BE PUT TO GREAT USE AND BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!
And Renie – here is what happened to your generous donation of school supplies…….
On December 22, Santa and over 20 volunteers visited the village of Candido Salazar, a community one and a half hours away. Santa arrived in a white Hummer with toys and Barbie dolls much to the delight of the wide eyed children in the community. The volunteers assisted Santa with the distribution of toys, and then BBQed 200 hamburgers for the children, their Fathers, Mothers and Grandparents. The meal was complete with chips ,tomatoes, lettuce, Jalapeno peppers and the usual condiments. The children enjoyed wacking the pinatas for the prize candy and posing for the camera with their new toys. At the end of the afternoon, 59 families were presented with a Christmas food hamper. The school was given school supplies donated by the La Penita Trailer Park and residents of La Penita.
It was a great day with great volunteers and a sense of sharing a gift of Christmas. Regards Sharon Newton
CASA COOKING CLASS
Learn to cook Mexican food – Debra Triplett`s cooking class is the place to go – Session 2 starts January 13 and continues every Thursday afternoon until February 17 with a repeat of the menus offered in Session 1. There are still a few openings available.

Our Santa (aka Peter) went out on 3 Christmas runs. Our quads were decorated and we had a great sleigh for Santa. We took all the Beanie Babies collected (about 500) and went out into the streets of La Penita and La Colonia. We also gave Beanies to the seniors and grandchildren at the seniors center.
The ride was pretty bumpy for Santa but the look of wonder and amazement on the kids faces was worth every bump. You can still ride through the streets and see kids hugging the Beanies.
Beanies are a great toy to give out because they are soft, easy to pack, easy to collect and they are loved by all ages, girls and boys alike, so if you want to bring some along for next year, please do.
