There is also a rumour now that you actually need to own property to open a bank account. Things are changing and we would greatly appreciate any personal experiences posted here.
Usually when proof of residence is needed a letter from your landlord saying you rent plus the light or telephone bill with their name on it is sufficient. Please let us know if that worked for you.
I am having problems opening a bank account in Guadalajara. How does an American get an account? Is there a particular bank that can help with this?
I went to a Banamex near my house and was told I need the water and light bill in my name, but I rent so this is not possible.
I would appreciate any help.
