San Blas

San Blas lies about an hour to the north of Jaltemba Bay by two lane paved highway. It makes a good day trip. Visit the old town and its museum

and the citadel.

The mangrove swamps in the area make for excellent bird watching. There are also tours to see the crocodiles. Be sure to take insect repellent.

Along the way are many small beach towns where you can enjoy a meal of seafood. There are also long stretches of deserted beaches (2010) not far off the highway.
