Jaltemba Bay Historical time line

1540 – The town of Compostela established in its current location.

1824 – first Mexican constitution – Nayarit was a region of Jalisco

1867 – President Benito Juárez, separated Tepic/Nayarit from Jalisco as a military district of the Mexican Federation

1917 – Constitution of Mexico – Nayarit becomes a state of the Republic

1918 – The municipality of Compostela was established by the constitution of the state of Nayarit.

1934 – first president of the Ejido de La Peñita elected

1938 – first 7,700 hectares assigned to the Ejido of La Peñita; 154 members

1958 – additional 49 ejidotarios and 4,948 hectares were added to el Ejido de La Peñita

1963 – highway 200 links Jaltemba Bay to Compostela, Tepic and Puerto Vallarta

1965 – Ejido of Cándido Salazar established

1970 – Guayabitos development initiated.

1981 – Los Compadres first two stories built as garage and bunk house.

1985 – Richardson house completed on lava point.

2000 – Jaimie’s board on Rincon de Guayabitos started to serve the on line community until 2008

2002 – Hala opens Hamaca Maya in La Peñita

2002 – October – hurricane Kenna

2004 – Jaltemba Express first publishes later renamed Jaltemba Sol

2007 – Latitude 21 opens its door on Guayabitos south beach

2010 – Jaltemba Jalapeno.com first published

2012 – Ejido lands privatized. Details here.
