Lychee

The lychee tree grows in Jaltemba Bay. It is a local comercial crop. It is a big evergreen tree reaching 10–20 m tall.  The outside of the fruit is covered by a pink-red, roughly-textured rind that is inedible but easily removed to expose a layer of sweet, translucent white flesh. The texture is a bit rubbery.

It blooms in March with a bloom that resembles that of the Mango tree. This tree is located in the San Pancho Community Garden.

According to Wikipedia fruits that are up to 5 cm (2.0 in) long and 4 cm (1.6 in) wide but our local variety seems to be quite a bit smaller than that.
