Spring Festival:

Each year the kindergartens raise funds with a queen and king contest. The winner is the one who collects the most money (2009). In 2010, in some schools, the winner collected the most aluminum cans because that was seen to be more fair. This is followed by a crowning in some schools and the spring festival parade on the main street around the 21st of March. In 2010 the parade was held in La Peñita on 19th March.

Some kindergartens make a special day out of crowning their royal suite. In 2009 I was fortunate to be invited to the crowning at Miguel Hidalgo Kindergarten in La Colonia.
