For those waiting for photos of Semana Santa, these are for you!
Reports were that Sol Nuevo in Guayabitos was closed Friday night as Lent ended and the partying began and lasted all night.
Saturday morning, Guayabitos was wall to wall people. Walking along Sol Nuevo was an exercise in patience battling crowded sidewalks. We soon opted for the somewhat lesser crowded Retorno up to the Decameron.
Many lots were like tent cities. In such close quarters, you had better like your neighbours!
Guayabitos South Beach – from the south beach at the Decameron, you could hardly see the sand for the umbrellas which sprouted up like colourful mushrooms and their closeness to each other makes one big shade screen. (I had to negotiate some pretty scary heights to take some of these photos)
Luckily the ocean was calmer than it has been the last few weeks. Young and old, frolicked in the surf.
A vendor’s paradise
These vendor’s are all smiles with their dulces ALL sold out!
Sometimes you just have to take time to recharge your batteries and catch some shuteye.
For those who didn’t like being crowded, the north beach was just the thing.
This couple used this handy rock as a table
Time to pack up and say “adios” to another Semana Santa.
