Last Night I had the honour of attending the wedding of Tiki and Sonia at Las Brisas on the water front in La Peñita. It was both enjoyable and educational.
The wedding was performed by a justice of the peace in a civil ceremony
right at the restaurant in the presence of witnesses, two for the bride and two for the groom).
Family and friends also bore witness.
There are similarities to Canadian weddings like the kiss,
signing of the document by the bride and groom
Also an elaborate cake
food and drink and the first dance
which was well into the evening after everyone had finished their meal.
Unlike Canadian weddings there was no MC and no speeches. The ceremony completed the bride and groom visited each table of guests for a chat, hugs and a few extra photos.
The first dance was followed by a dance with the parents of the bride which quite quickly evolved into the most interesting tradition I have witnessed at a wedding i.e. buying a dance with the bride or groom. Men pin money on the bride and women on the groom to buy a dance with them.
They make such a lovely couple and family:
You can add your congratulations as comments below. OR you could drop by and do it in person. The restaurant was closed for the event but returns to regular hours today except not for breakfast. Tuesday night the Rhythm Roosters perform and Friday night it is the Perez Brothers. Reservations HIGHLY recommended.
In a photo shoot there are always a few shots that should be deleted but for various reasons I cannot bring myself to do it.
